BROADVIEW HEIGHTS – Judging from the numbers, that approached 55, it appears that the Lady Bees Summer Volleyball Camp was a huge success this year.
The growth of the camp over the past couple of years has been phenomenal and this in the heart of the “pay-to-play” era in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights communities.
“We were real happy with the turnout of campers in grades 3-9.” Bees head coach Rob Cline said.”We’d like to think that because the past two seasons we made it to the “Sweet 16″ the increased interest might have something to do with that.”
Interest in volleyball at the grade school, middle school and high school level is at an all time high. “We’d love to keep the momentum going.” Cline said. “That’s how you build a consistently strong volleyball program.”
NEXT UP:
The Lady Bees, sans “The Whale” and “The Big O”, will travel to State College, PA and take part in the annual Penn State University Team Camp next month. Senior outside hitter Olivia “The Big O ” Chrzanowski and junior middle hitter Abbie “Gail The Whale” Brinkman won’t make the trip to Centre County and the land of JoePa.
It turns out that Brinkman had a prior volleyball engagement in Wisconsin and Chrzanowski will be traveling with her club level team.
There is no truth to the popular rumor that Chrzanowski, who has verbally committed to attend Canisius College in Buffalo, NY in 2011, will be vacationing in The Nickle City in search of the best joint to land some , fiery hot chicken wings.
NOTEWORTHY:
Fundraising ideas are still in the works. It is not definite as of yet, but the cookie dough sale, which proved to be very profitable for the program late last summer, is a possibility again this year. Please stay tuned.
